About Me

I’m a former professional baseball player who is still serving professional athletes through a nonprofit organization called Unlimited Potential. Our organization is a small ministry team of former players who have been helping players grow spiritually and relationally for years through mentoring, counseling, Bible study, small groups, mission trips, men’s retreats and more. I’m also serving as the chaplain for the Atlanta Braves. For those of you curious about my education, I have a Masters Degree in Ministry Studies from Grace College and Seminary. But mostly, I’m just an avid reader and zealous learner. I was born and raised in Dublin, GA and recently moved back to town with my wife Tanner and our four kids — Asher, Jude, Isaac and Arlie Anna.

About the Podcast

What is Shema Discipleship?

shema (Hebrew: verb) — to hear, pay attention to and obey

Christian philosopher Dallas Willard makes a revealing observation when he says,

“We don't believe something by merely saying we believe it, or even when we believe that we believe it. We believe something when we act as if it were true.”

Shema Discipleship is a podcast focused on exactly that: a belief in Jesus that manifests itself in the way that we live out our daily lives in this world. Shema Discipleship is a Bible study podcast that helps people embrace a new way of life and a new way of seeing the world based on the life and teachings of Jesus — or in the words of Jesus, to help people have ears that truly hear.
